Structural Engineer Position Available

Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. is a consulting structural engineering firm looking for a Structural/Project Engineer to design and manage industrial and commercial projects.  Candidate will:
  1. Establish and determine cost-efficient structural systems and components that comply with local and national building codes, safety standards, and client specifications.
  2. Design buildings and structures using structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and/or wood framing.
  3. Design equipment foundations and process support structures which include but are not limited to foundations for dynamic and/or rotating equipment, pipe racks, mezzanines, process towers
  4. Perform structural assessment of existing facilities.
  5. Coordinate with Architectural, MEP, and/or OEM drawings.
  6. Conduct site inspections and assessments; provide field support during construction phases.
  7. Assist with project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks.

Typical projects:

  1. Light and heavy manufacturing facilities and structures and machine foundations
  2. K-12 school and collegiate facilities – academic / educational facilities and sports arenas and stadiums
  3. Power and utility, water and wastewater
  4. Municipal and civic projects, office buildings, medical facilities and hospitals, ecclesiastical facilities

Good written and verbal communications are necessary since the position will be filled with a person who can:

  1. Prepare technical reports. 
  2. Manage and work with designers and junior engineers.
  3. Communicate verbally and coordinate with owners, architects, and other professionals as well as contractors for design-build and design-bid projects.   

Structural engineering software currently used in-house includes RISA, Enercalc, Tekla Tedds, HILTI PROFIS, etc.

Drawings are produced with both AutoCAD and Revit Structure software. 

Self-motivation, self-discipline, and technical knowledge are needed to successfully fill this position.

Experience: P.E. (or ability to obtain licensure) with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred

Education: Minimum B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering

Location:  Greenville, SC

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
