Our Team

BaSE team members are creative professionals with diverse backgrounds who strive to be responsive and innovative from the early stages of design development through construction completion. Our team applies their technical knowledge, experience and ingenuity to every project in order to achieve cost efficient construction. The technical staff attends seminars and conferences to develop and enhance their design and engineering skills. Our engineers are well-informed about most building codes, construction materials and structural engineering design software.

COLIN BAILEY

President


Mr. Bailey is president of Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. (BaSE). Prior to establishing BaSE in 1991, Mr. Bailey was employed by two large multidiscipline engineering firms and two consulting firms. Mr. Bailey has served as Principal-In-Charge, Project Manager and Project Engineer on private and public projects throughout the southern and eastern regions of the U.S. as well as DOD and NAVFAC work.

PAUL GURLEY

Associate Engineer


Mr. Gurley is an Associate Engineer for Structural Engineering at Bailey and Son Engineering Inc. He is responsible for the selection, analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems and has served as the Structural Engineer of Record on over $600 million dollars of construction in the public and private sector throughout the Carolinas, Georgia, and Virginia.

SCOTT SPROUSE

Associate Engineer


As an Associate Engineer, Mr. Sprouse manages and is directly involved in the structural aspects of various institutional, industrial, and commercial projects. His participation begins with the design consultation and evaluation of design options, continues through the construction document phase, and ends with construction administration. Throughout the building design and construction process, Mr. Sprouse consults with the client and the design team, insures expectations are met or exceeded, and provides economical solutions. Mr. Sprouse also serves as the network and computer systems administrator for the office.

ALAN H. CHAMBLEE, PE

Senior Engineer


Mr. Chamblee is a Design Engineer for Structural Engineering at Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. He has served as a Structural Engineer on various institutional and industrial buildings.

AUSTIN T. ROWAN

Registered Engineer, LEED® AP BD+C


Mr. Rowan is a Project Engineer for Structural Engineering at Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. He is responsible for analysis, and design of structural steel, cast-in-place reinforced concrete, reinforced and unreinforced masonry, and design of timber systems.

Mr. Phillips is a Project Engineer for Structural Engineering at Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. He has design experience with commercial, industrial, and multi-use structures constructed using wood, steel, and concrete.

L. AUSTIN CHALKER

EIT


Mr. Chalker is a Project Engineer for Structural Engineering at Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc.  His project and management experience includes work on industrial warehouses, medical office buildings, parking garages, student living and dining community, rehabilitation of mill buildings into an apartment community and multiple projects around the upstate of South Carolina.

JOSEPH DAVIS

Senior Designer


Mr. Davis is a Senior Structural Designer, having experience with both structural and architectural disciplines. His experience includes 26 years of drafting and design in all disciplines using AutoCAD and Revit software to create construction drawings and 3D models for multiple clients. Experience in all fields including Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, and Civil as well as field observations and verifications. Projects have included industrial, manufacturing, chemical, and pharmaceutical complexes, offices and warehouses.

JUSTIN HARRISON

Structural Designer


Mr. Harrison is a Structural Designer, having experience with both structural and architectural disciplines. He has experience with several computer aided design software programs, such as Rhinoceros 3D, AutoCAD 3D, and Revit structure. His exposure to multi-discipline design teams provides him with the experience to coordinate and produce construction documents throughout all phases of design. His understanding of the design processes and construction administration phase is beneficial in his review of structural steel, rebar, and joist shop drawings.
