Hubbell Lighting Headquarters

Greenville, South Carolina
Estimated Cost: $36,000,000

The Hubbell Lighting Headquarters building is located adjacent to the new ICAR Millennium Campus. This state of the art building was desinged as two separate buildings with an expansion joint separating them.

The office portion of the building is a four-story structure with a penthouse and a "pop up" feature over the board room. The lab portion of the building is a two-story structure with the built in capacity for a one floor vertical expansion. Both buildings were designed using a composite floor system. The owner mandated a highter live load than the code required, and Bailey and Son Engineering Inc. investigated bay sizes, beam spaying, and floor thicknesses in this exercise. A braced bay system was selected for the lateral resisting system. The exterior of the structure was designed with curtain walls, pre-cast concrete, and stone veneer with metal stud back up.
